Call for proposals

The conference “Long Durations and Disruptions: Temporalities of Transformation in Cultural Industries (TeMIC)” aims to explore the various dimensions of time in the organization and functioning of the cultural industries, with a particular focus on the audiovisual and music sectors.

The aim of the conference is to offer a fresh perspective on these industries by examining how long-term trends and moments of disruption shape the dynamics of production, circulation, and consumption of cultural forms, formats, and content

Attention will be paid to the temporalities of transitions between established and emerging practices, to the speed at which cultural products circulate in the digital environment, and to the adaptations or resistances likely to accelerate, slow down, or alter these transformations.

Papers will examine the persistence of certain socio-economic configurations, as well as the reconfigurations resulting from the adoption of technological innovations, the emergence of new categories of industrial actors, the adoption of new economic and production models, the implementation of political and regulatory frameworks, and changes in consumption patterns.
